    28ft Campbell Purchase

I have always been a fan of these old school day cruisers. Saw this one listed and am possibly considering it as a project. Figured it may be good therapy lol.

What would you look for/ask when considering this boat? It's in the Vegas area so I don't want to drive 4 hours without being sure I want it.
What do you think about price?

    Any info would be great.

    Couple texts I sent him...

Pretty cool old school boat. I'd hit up that 2FF dude, he lives in Vegas and knows a shit ton about boats

heres how I would look at this...the price is cheep enough..make make a lower offer....??? but the way I look at these kinda boats is..how much you would have to spend to restore it VS how much you can buy a nice one...

At 6-7K entry price, I could see you ending up spending that much again to get it super nice and dialed in, assuming both mills are usable and don't need major service, if there is any interior restoration or exterior / gel restoration needed. Six tires in need of replacing, six hubs to ensure the trailer is tip top and road worthy. Complete fuel system clean up/filters/carb updates/repairs...

I'm guessing it has some time of velvet drive trans/reverse box in addition to the Vdrive set up??????????

At any rate, it could get expensive to get it really reliable if shafts/struts/couplings need service (are leaky) OR if one of the mills are bad. IF you really like it and are ok with having 12-14k tied up in her go for it.

What happened to the other small boat project, do you still have that one?

I do have the jet but honestly, it is a semi V and it beats the shit out of you. Plus I always go with 4-6 people and it is not a comfy ride.
I'm going to list it on CL for $5k as is.
Looking for something that can handle Havasu Parker Mohave chop.

Think the Campbell could make it to Catalina? It's 28ft.....

Heck yeah it would make it after you get it dialed in BUT don't try to make the trip home around or after mid day In the catalina ski race there were LOTS of small flats and I've seen what look like smallish bass boats run to Catalina and back over the years in the ski race... I have also seen some CRAZY chop/waves in the afternoon when the wind starts kicking...

Campbell Carl had a day cruiser like that one BUT I don't think it was quite 28', I think it was his pride and joy... 2FF or SharpShooter or RedAnt and others here could probably tell you about the mini cruiser that Carl had... RIP Carl...
