Well looks like Mercury is gearing up some new race outboards.
One is a Verado and the other is a 300XS SST model...hmm I will take both....drool.

The Verado (on the left) Is the new X-cat engine for 2014. The one of the right aint Mercury themselves, its a 300XS on a Mad EFI 15" shaft made by a company in europe. The Verado will give around 300 BHP and can be run on 95 octane fuel.

The Verado is a four cylinder cranking out 300HP...that is some serious HP.
The weight I am speculating will probably be about 450 lbs.
The 300 XS-SST is a better idea than the Verado...IMO.
By X-Cat you mean UIM racing. SBI will probably go that route as well if this motor is adopted...which it will be if released.
The critical component for everyone is will the Verado hold up under race conditions. If so the 4 stroke will sound the death of all 2 stroke motors for future manufacturing. It is the future one need only look to motocross and see what occurred in that realm.
If anyone has any additional information or photos post them up.
Bruce 2MM I just got the motors dialed on the DW not changing a thing...115MPH at LOTO in a mile 98 degree heat and same humidity...I think I will leave it alone .

Super Sport Tunnel is correct answer, 12" midsection. SS is short shaft with the 15" mid.
