What do you buy for your boat? And what does your boat need before the season?

I was talking to someone the other day and we were discussing what we buy (either in parts, upgrades, or service) for our boats.

I've been bad lately, the past couple years I haven't done much of my own anything. So I've found myself paying for a few things. Some of them I would never tackle myself, others I'm kind of ashamed to admit I pay other to do. So I'll start:

    The DCB:

    Annual Service
25hr services (engine and drive fluids)
    Drive service (20-25hrs)
    Details (yikes)
    Interior remodel
    Gel repair

The Toon (27' Playcraft with 496):

    Annual service
Sound system (yikes, I should have done this)
Service - boat is actually having a problem right now

After the toon gets repaired, it really needs trailer bunks. Other than that both have been pretty well kept.
But the season is coming up fast.

Nothing to the boat. Working on redoing the trailer bunks at the current time. I figured 1 bolt out of 4 left on a few of them means its time.

Ever hire anyone to replace your bunks? I almost did until I found out he used lags 😁

I have to get a Place Diverter o-ring before the boat goes back out again...

I'd like to swap the intake from the Fast 90 to a Holley Hi-Ram, and retune. Not sure when that'll happen.

My bunks need replacing. I guess I'm newer than I thought. What's wrong with lags?
I did replace all four wheel bearings on the trailer last weekend after throwing one in October.

Lags don't last long. SS through carriage bolts are the way to go.

Just did trailer bunks on a cole today.

Always use stainless carriage bolts and hardware. Lag bolts eventually work loose. Or worse yet get stuck in the support and when the wood eventually brakes away they end up in the bottom of the boat.

Sounds like you called the wrong guy. Try Sean at Bunkrepair in Havasu. He used all stainless carriage bolts with double nuts and nylocks on mine.

Besides normal service and teak oil, I replaced the stock shifter with this Dana unit that I got from a board member. Thanks PaulName: photo(11).jpg
