Yep. Soon you will be able to buy a 1150, 1350 or 1650 QC4V Merc in a crate without the drive for the fabulous price of around 100K. Look for one to show up in a 1934 3 window Ford Coupe in you neighborhood soon.

Maybe one in a '29 Model A truck street rod towing your new 41 ft wide body DCB.

They are going into the crate engine business. I can understand some "more money than brains" type buying a QC4C for a street rod, its already being done as I write this. And I can see some custom supercar company like the old Vector using them as a optional engine.
But they will also be selling the higher end, conventional BBC based push rod engines as well. They are a million miles from being competitive in that market. Unless they drop the price considerably and sell them without the warranty. The warranty is about half the cost of a Merc blue motor. Not sure how they are going to handle warranty and "scheduled" service and rebuilds to maintain warranty if there is one..
At 750.00 per HP, there are better options, but bling has its price.

But I can't imagine how they are going to sell push rod engines for anything near the price they sell them for to boat builders. They'd have to be dipped in 24 carat gold.

Back in the day some boat manufacturers came out but that was short lived as the economy died soon after that started.

Push rod engines won't sell to well. But the qc4v motors are bad ass. Price is crazy high but look at NRE and other super high end builders. People will pay for bling and bragging rights. I want to see a race team put one in a trophy truck and race baja.

Do you think "car guys" will pay for this?

I'm wondering if car guys will pay the kind of money that Mercury asks for their motors?
