There are imperfections on the surface of those housings. Many times they will crack, especially if over tightened. We always sand the high spots before installing them.

Most of the boats you ride on have 2 engines I think? The second one is the "get back" motor. lol

No superchargers, they are normally aspirated EFI engines. (the picture in my avatar) The whine is actually the straight cut XR gears.
