Very sweet..........we're heading out in the boat tomorrow morning at 7AM to watch the morning ascent from Thompson Bay!!
I'm sure you know that they also take off again at 4:30pm
The white balloon with the red cross and emblem came from London, from what I understand.
Man that is awesome! For some reason hot air balloons fascinate me. I really need to get on one one of these days! Great pics!

Yeah but the morning ascent is usually bigger and the likelihood of wind is lower........we may go back for the night glow however.........it's very cool if you haven't been!!Quote:

I'm sure this is a great event for our city but last year one landed about 4 houses down. now my dog sits in the back yard looking up and barks at every hot air balloon she sees. But that's why we have dogs we love 'um and they drive us crazy kind a like a wife. oops
TY for sharing Slacker & Paul... We are big fans here in STL and have a big festival/race here yearly for MANY MANY years...
It's actually a race here/some kind of accuracy race where all the other ballons chase the Energizer Bunny (they drop a sand bag at a target), they also do the balloon glow the night before in Forest Park...

Amazing afternoon and evening on the boat. Launched and then picked up dinner to go from the turtle. Avoided the traffic cluster fuck and just walked up from a beach behind the island.
Pilots showing their skills and dipping their baskets in the channel was pretty impressive. Night glow was also a pretty amazing sight.
You really have to commend this town for putting on so many great events.
