Today I stopped by IMCO to say hello and they were going over some new design ideas to meet the new fuel tank laws. The EPA is making the marine industry follow basically the same standard that the auto industry does.
What does this mean for boaters? Far less fuel capacity, increased tank prices, a butt ugly fuel cap on your custom boat (clicking cap like on a car) and a lot of work for boat builders.
Kinda ironic: A few days ago I was reading a thread on a Duramax Message Board that answered the question to why stock 3/4 and 1 ton trucks dont come with large fuel tanks anymore. I myself always wondered why GM would put a 26 gal tank on my truck. I can barely make it to Havasu on 26 gallons. ...Well the reason is result of the EPA standards on fuel tank ventilation. I don't know Hotboat's policy on posting links to other sites on here so I won't. However you can google for it. Well anyways... now they are doing the same thing to the Marine industry.
Check out the link. Pretty interesting stuff.
