I remember him from back then as well. He actually used to deliver parts to my father-in-law in Bell Gardens before he made it big. He was an ass back then as well. When the cameras are off and the fans aren't around, the real John comes out and it ain't pretty. I think people would be surprised during a hot mic moment.
I do have to give him props. He always gave props to Don Steves for helping him get his start.

Glad you got it to work. Sorry... we have been having problems with the site. Working on a solution. Maybe new host
That was as big as I could make it while getting it to work
John has come a long way in life. He must have felt he had something to prove in his early years but he's grown up a lot over the past decade. Going through his big wreck in Texas was a huge wake up call for him in a number of ways. He's spent a million hours in the gym and is now in the best shape of his life and he drinks about 1/100th of what he used to - by doctor's orders. I've had the pleasure of personally meeting with almost every one of the pro owners and drivers in the NHRA and I'd have to say, with Warren and Arlene Johnson edging him out, John is probably one of the most pleasant celebrities in the entire sport.
