Yes, they wanted almost $700 a night for a bay view room. That's a little pricey on my trophy husband salary. I was thinking the Hyatt or Marriot which were about $125 a night. Has anyone stayed at either one of those?

I hear the Fairmont in Newport is nice. Saw some deals online for 110 a night for that place.

I'm thinking we are probably going to stay at the Shorebreak like suggested by Joker. Any thoughts from anyone on it? It seemed to get better reviews than the Hyatt in Newport. I'm not real familiar with this area...can someone tell me the differences between Newport and Huntington beach?
The Hyatt in Huntington would be nice for you because Main Street is right there and has a bunch if different restaurants and bars. Probably about a 15 min cab ride to Newport so still close. Newport Hyatt is on the back bay and is nice not as much right by it to do though.
Shore break is one block off Main Street. Quiet and zero bars except for Zimzala at the hotel. Walk one block over and everything is there.
Staying at the Hyatt is a 15 to 20 minute walk to downtown. I think it all depends on what you want at your doorstep.
Both hotels are nice IMHO. Btw, what were the rates for the Waterfront Hilton next to the Hyatt?
I thought all you people were friends. Why do u stay at expensive hotels when you have friends in the area? Or is this not those type of friendships.
Where I come from. Friends always have open doors for out of The area friends . Jus asking. Help a new guy and a east coaster understand. ?
Thanks :)
The thing is we are all going to be driving down there so most of us are getting hotels. People are coming from as far as northern and central Ca, Palm Springs and San Diego. It would cost as much to can as just getting a hotel for the night for us.
But to answer your main question my door is locked and bolted. I would pitch a tent in the yard if they really needed a place to stay :)
