Penhall Fabrication Inc. would like you all to meet a very special young man, his name is Tyler Patten. His dad Lee Patten had us build a Class 1 race car for him a few years back. Right before Tyler turned 21 they found some brain tumors, after he celebrated his 21st birthday he went in for surgery to remove them. He spent most of his 21st year in and out of the hospital putting up the good fight. He is now 22 and still fighting everyday to get his strength back and be able to get around on his own. His dad called and asked Jerry to help him make one of Tyler's wishes come true. He wanted to go racing. This weekend is the Parker 425 one of the biggest races in Off Road racing. There are various classes that compete amongst their classes for the win. The biggest and baddest being the Trophy Trucks and Class 1. Tyler's dads car would normally compete in Class 1 ( he has won this race before I believe more than once as has Jerry Penhall ). The bigger classes go around a 132 mile lap 3 times, and then there is Sportsmen Class that generally is for people just starting out. They usually don't have as competitive of cars and the drivers don't have as much experience. Sportsmen go only 2 laps. Lee called Jerry and asked if he would help him with making Ty's wish come true. Jerry's job is to go the 1st lap and make sure the car gets to Lee and Tyler so they can make a lap and get to the finish line. The Herzog team is also involved they are entering a truck to chase behind to make sure that car gets to Lee and Tyler. We are excited to get this started and watch them come across the finish line. For two men (Lee and Jerry ) that are multiple time class winners ( in the bigger classes ) this is where they put their egos aside and make someone very specials dream comes true. So on Saturday morning at around 7:30ish our time send positive thoughts our way for the Patten Race team and Tyler. Oh yes and we start DEAD last.
