Their standard sockets are not meant for impact wrenches and a 16 point socket is the weakest possible choice for a tough job. Just saying.
Even a Harbor Freight cheapo impact 8-point socket will endure such a job.
...Use a proper socket, and , ( Christmas is coming ), invest in some higher quality tools than Freight sells. As for Craftsman tools....well, I am guessing the case here is likely mis-use of the tool, than the tool being defective.
Sometimes it leaves marks on the inside from hammering. Only a problem if you get someone who knows what there looking at. What are the odds of that.
I've had Craftsman tools for years, they're great stuff.
