Man...……….some idiot did it again. You know, I usually take the path of staying out of name calling on the boards, but bare with me here. I'm sure, by now, most of you are aware of the two boats that hit head on over the Labor Day weekend. Sixteen people were involved, I think 4 killed, others suffered some injuries, when a boat traveling on the wrong side of the river for the direction he was going, at night, with NO running lights slammed head-on into another loaded boat of people. NONE of the sixteen involved were wearing any kind of safety flotation devices. At this point, I haven't heard whether the authorities can discern if alcohol played any part.
I've said it before...…"Just because you have the money to buy a hammer, doesn't mean you know how to use one". More and more, People who should never have a boat are buying them and operating them dangerously. Really? NO ONE WAS WEARING A VEST???????? NO LIGHTS???? ON THE WRONG SIDE??????? AT SPEED??????
The Captain of any watercraft is responsible for his or her occupants, and should always require every passenger to vest-up. This accident was so un-necessary. Sooner or later this stuff will come back to bite every good boater by some new laws being written because people can't use good judgement. Just like the guy who caught a chine in his circle boat at a Parker boat show event, got thrown out and hurt, and luckily the boat didn't hit any one.....but, just god damned un-necessary.
Don't take me wrong, I like horsepower, and I build engines for a living. I like speed, and own a few drag boats.....and a ski boat. With age comes wisdom my friends, and I know better. You should know better.
They ALL should know better! It's bad enough I have to drive so defensively every day on the streets of L.A., without having to worry more and more about all the knot-head idiot boaters too! People....use your heads.

Sad deal but 100% preventable. Going fast at night is a recipe for disaster.
