Does anyone here know WHAT is the deal with the hang up calls that I get at home from all around the nation?

I look up the numbers online sometimes to see what I can learn about the #, usually nothing...

WHAT is the goal/what do these robo calls/hangUPers accomplish/obtain with all of these calls??? I get 10+ per day on my landline.... :bat:

How do you answer your phone? The automation doesn't start until it hears the word "hello". I answer mine with my name followed with a "hello?" a few seconds later if I don't get a response. Next time say hello and the machine might not hang up on you.

When they ask how you're doing, tell them you're terrible because your cat just died. That will get them to hang up on you as well. They don't want to talk to sad people. :)

I don't answer my phone if the number isn't saved in my contacts.

I get them as well and believe most are phishing for fax or data tones but my favorites are windows technical support from Pakistan. Those clowns are so easy to irritate I have to believe some of the aggression coming from the Middle East is due to me. :D

I had to disconnect all shop phones except one which has an answering machine. That way I don't hear it and if it's important, they'll leave a msg.

You could start with Rachael w/cardholder services then progress to Windows Technical Department which all originate from the Middle East then move on to every single auto glass dealer in America - all of whom called me twice last week alone.
