Not intended to "dis" anyone's boat or rank it less than another... BUT tell WHY they are your fave, make/model/specific race boat/your family boat/sentimental ties to a boat... There are so sos ososososo many cool boats I have been around over the years at the races/events/factories... Pontoon, kayak, whatever floats your boat... :)

#1 Wayne's coldfire... A) I like Wayne and his lovely wife, the boat/the tribute to the former boat/builders, the painter of the Ghost, and most importantly watching Davey thrash it to the ragged edge of blowing its stack (which it never does/did that I'm aware of)... Davey, I still think about you when I think "boat racing", R.I.P.... This boat hauls ass, Wayne drives it like a bat out of hell... It's an all time #1 fave for a variety of reasons... Davey B had his hands full that day running up against Tony in the K69...

THE original Body Snatchers, my favorite hull style/design, performance in BIG wake, speed... THe boat had ALOT of history and I wanted it so bad... I was ready to sell all of my toys to get this thing from Ted... It was like 2009 when it came up for sale and the economy was in the toilet bigtime, I had to keep my cards close to my chest... Rank Daddy Dave drove it alot, saw some INCREDIBLE GN action between the GN 24 and Ben's Plan B and Devines GN47 and Bob's GN7 and many others... It was / is a real fave... IF I had a giant pile of cash, I would buy her from Dirk and put it back the way I remember her, as a tribute to some really fine folks in her former life of racing (Ted/Joey/Dave/Etc)...

Yep, K69... I have watched this boat get flipped, dipped, skipped, ripped over the years and never thought I would see it come as far as it has... You have to tip your hat to Gordo/Dave/Tony and all the others that have shoe'd that tub...

Hard runs at the K kilo record, championships in the KRR class...

Such a fantastic partnership to watch Dave/Gordy throwing down on this thing and turning it around from the little boat that COULDN't to the terror of the course...

#1 Donzi 35ZFX
Great all around boat for the ocean and lake. Cruise out to Catalina or Clemente for fishing or In Havasu/Mohave for a good fun weekend trip.

54940

#2 Advantage 28ft Victory.
With walk through cuddy and open bow. I really like the lay out of this boat and think the inside space is really useful.

54941

#3 Cobalt Cabin Cruiser.
Just think it is another all around boat that would be great to take to the lake or in the ocean. Has a small Head like the Dozi and room to sleep a couple people comfortably for the overnight trips.

54942

Guess none of my boats are the go fast boats but I think they would be good all around boats.

I like that Donzi, something like that would be very nice if I lived near big fish like U :)

No right or wrong answer, just your fave/preference whatever the reasons... :)

I'm still :hmmm: on #3 but leaning toward the K69...

They look very nice for sure... I was able to go on a shark fishing charter in HiltonHead S.C. about 15 yrs ago, we were on a Mako 24ish center console set up for fishing... It was nothing like that Donzi I'm sure but MAN was it nice to wrestle the sharks from a center console like that...

#1 Laveycraft 21 XCS, Closed Bow, 454 MAG MPI, Bravo 1 - because it's my current boat

Planes nice, especially with the trim tabs. Good punch from 30-50 MPH; it really pushes you back in the seat. I've ridden in 350 MAG MPIs and its like comparing apples to oranges. I see a top speed of 72 MPH in ideal conditions - 1/2 tank of gas, light load, down river, smooth water. Full boat it'll cruise at 60 MPH comfortably. The wind at this speed was brutal, so we installed Finney's wind flap and I couldn't be happier. Boat does get a little squirrely at 65+ MPH, though. Would love to see what it's like with external steering, but not worth spending the money. With the family in the boat I'm usually at 40-45 MPH. IMO, it's a great all around boat. It's a perfect size for the river (Needles/Parker), and with the tabs it really does feel and handle like a 24 footer in Havasu's rough water. I'd be side-by-side with my BIL and his 25 Shockwave Tremor. It has a timeless paint job (I'm not a fan of tribal), which still shines for a 15 year old boat.

A couple of down sides are the closed bow and swim step. When it was just my wife and I we loved the closed bow because we didn't have to shuttle a dozen friends and be "those people." But now with kids, I would love to open up the bow for convenience. It would be much easier to get the kids in and out of the boat. Lavey quoted $3,500 for the conversion, which I will likely do this winter. The swim step is my only other complaint. The angle is not conducive to getting out of the water and step on to the hatch cover, or to sit on while beached.

We've considered selling it to upgrade to a 25-28 footer, but it's just not worth the money. I don't gain a whole lot going from a 20K boat to a 40K boat... Maybe 3-6 feet and maybe 5 MPH. No thanks. Not for 20K. After all we end up in the same place.

54952

#2 Howard 28 SCS Sportcat Open Bow (note: the cat, not deck) with the 600SCi package.

If I had the money tree planted in my backyard, this is what I'd buy. Why? Because it just speaks to me. With the power package it should see 85-90 MPH and that's plenty for me. I prefer the cat over the deck because it has the full rear bench seat as opposed to three seats and the side walk thru area. I never saw a point in that and I think its safer without for the kids. But this boat costs as much as the river house in Needles that I want, and I'd much rather have that house and my Lavey.

54954

#3 Nor-Tech 392 Super Fish Center Console with quad 400Rs.

If I had two money trees in the backyard and lived in the Florida Keys.

Thats a good thing if the boat you OWN is in your top 3... Thats not the case with me... :(

:bananadance: I made the disclaimer up front, no worries... Anything from a kayak to a Royal Caribbean Cruise ship...

Race boat, pleasure boat, whacker, jet, boats you LIKE but done want to own, boats you wish you did own... Boats you love but dont really want to own... :)

Notice that my SECOND favorite boat is the #1 that I wanna own... Of course if Wayne was feeling generous and wanted to unload the K50 (my 1st favorite) for a song, I would consider it... ;)

Hmmmm, Well, you asked..... For me, First off, the Sanger Jr. drag hydro, just because it's a no-nonsense, "built to do the job" boat with the best lines in the hydro world. Second, Hondo's classic flatbottom, again, proven to be tough to beat, competitively and looks wise. Thirdly, I've got to include the Stevens flatbottom. Overlooked by some, but more families had a Stevens flat at one time than any other make. Good lines and ruggedly built.549615496254963

1. K-124 Revenge. Tons of racing history with some of the best driver's. Originally Bob Goettels "The Epidemic" K-28 and at one time with him driving it was the world's fastest sprint boat in closed course competition. It still has the potential to win races but the current owner need's to let it hang out a little more.

2. PS-640 "The Darkhorse" Biesemeyer. Owned by John and Laurie Grijalva. A true Darkhorse that was at one time used for drag racing and then left to sit. Brought back out to circle race and developed from a boat that couldn't even finish a heat to a boat that work's great and can win.

3. K-69 "Freedom Child" Revenge. Dave Rankin and Gordon Jennings beast. This boat with Tony Scarlata driving has inspired me more than any other boat and driver. A few year's ago I started watching video of this boat and going to event's just to watch it run. Definately what got me hooked on Sprint boat's.

The SS 70 of the master. Lance could drive that boat blindfolded. I don't know anyone that has spent more time in his flat than Lance did in his. The boat was fast because he tested more than the rest. MAN, I miss seeing this boat flying around.
54968
The last of the Epidemic line. This is the K-Boat that I grew up on. It was one of the flats that made me a flatbottom guy. From the time of seeing this boat up against a twin engine unlimited hydro, I wanted to beat up on people with bigger boats in a flat.
Not sure what to call on the last one. Probably a tie between the SS91 of Davey B, the SS80 and the Gordy K-69

I'm seeing 2 types of answers here. 2MM's answer targets 3 boats specifically not just a brand or model. Others have listed favorite make/model. I'll do both.:)

1. Most favorite boat would be whichever original K-50 was Julian's favorite. There were several so that's tough to figure.

https://scontent-lax1-1.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xpf1/v/t1.0-9/1231446_716911918324047_1014840974_n.jpg?oh=2b2510 3b315130ee54d95df7083315fe&oe=5608E0C1

2. This particular Panic Mouse would be my 2nd favorite boat of all time.

As far as 3 favorite makes/models of all time.

1. This shouldn't surprise anyone 75-79 Race deck Biesemeyer flat.

2. Hondo XH-511 T

As far as the favorite boats? That's a tough one and I was just thinking about it the other day actually.

I mean, I love a nice fishing boat:

54974

But something along these lines is more my speed. 60-65' Viking, Hatteras, Bertram... I had a 50'er through a company I owned and it was a great getaway. I'm a big fan of saltwater. :captain:

54975

Was at the Ft. Lauderdale boat show this last fall and the center console scene seems to get bigger every year. The 4 and 5 outboard setups are insane. Oddly enough, many of those "fishing boats" weren't equipped with a single rod holder. I believe they were targeting the 2 legged speed tuna instead. Nor-Tech, MTI, and a few others come to mind there. Beautiful boats, but Concept has upped the fishing bar, and even Cigarette with their 39' Top Fish, and now the 42' Huntress. Would feel bad gaffing a fish and bleeding all over one of those though.

I've had a couple of Schiada's, a 30' race cat, lots of times in big v-hulls, center consoles, and everything in between. In a perfect world I think I'd opt for a Skater and a center console in the under 40' range, and a big battle wagon sport fish in the 60' range. :action-smiley-035:

Not this is a bad ass fishing boat. Would love to have a nice convertible fishing boat to cruise down to Cabo or PV and hook up with some 200lb + Yellowfin.
On a side note, its going to be a great year for Deep Sea Fishing. Looking like an El Nino year. THey are catching bluefin on 3/4 day boats out of SD right now.

They use the 200lb'ers for bait in PV. Spent a bunch of time down there fishing before the boat was moved up from PV to Guaymas. That was a fun trip. One way ticket to PV and 750 miles back up the coast on a slow cruise. Fishing and drinking beer all the way up. Would love to make that trip again. I need to restock my dorado supply this year as well. :party-smiley-020:

Where do you normally go out of?
Im thinking of going on a 4day in Aug on the Royal Polaris....

That must have been an awesome trip up from PV!

This boat is out of PV and goes out for the Big Tuna.....I have entertained the thought of flying out there and hopping on this for a few days.

I normally head to San Carlos. Have friends with boats down there still. Love it down there! You clear the harbor and start setting lines for dorado, then re-rig for bills when you get out a bit further, then setup for whatever is running. I think the furthest out I've been has been maybe 30 miles. PV you have to venture out quite a bit to clear the bay and get into blue water. Fishing is like no other place I've been though. 350+ lb yellowfin weren't uncommon. Get them on the boat and stand them up and they're 6+ feet tall. Good times! I've got contacts down there that can point you in the right direction when you're ready to pull the trigger. I need to get back down there myself one of these days. Have had some great New Years down there. Still mid-80's with awesome fishing.

San Carlos, Sonora. Just a bit south of Hermosillo, next to Guaymas. It's about 400 miles on the nose from my driveway to the marina. To fly in you'd have to go to Hermosillo as I don't know if any of the commercial airlines are flying into Guaymas these days. It's not a bad drive and there are lots of good little places to eat on the way down and back.

The less Spanish you speak, the better off you are actually. Typically they'll get frustrated and just flag you on from the military checkpoints or if you get caught up in a mordida (payoff) scam. I've driven down there by myself at night, taken my rhino, taken a handful of girls, boat parts, you name it, and I've never had an issue. I do speak Spanish and find myself telling them I don't as a white boy speaking Spanish just brings on more questions, like why do you speak Spanish gringo? The roads are better than some I drive on up here on a regular basis. They'll be out paving and doing road construction 7 days a week.

I mean, Mexico is scary and nobody should go there... ever! :schreck:

My #1 would have to be my own boat! :D 1981 Bahner... I've wanted to own this boat since I was a little boy. Took a lot of searching and a lot of years, but it all paid off.

54987

My #2 is Jack Landers old "Quicker" boat. I can remember sitting in his garage while he worked on it. Then he'd fire up for us and throw a few reves. That was awesome. His son Greg and I grew up together and have been friends since diapers. It's sad that this boat was destroyed in a crash. Funny story, my screen name, Undersoul, became my nickname used by Jack and Greg from a miss reading of my last name at Ascot raceway. Back in the mid 80's Greg and I raced 50's together there. One of the nights my dad wrote my last name so sloppy that the announcer called me Ryan Undersoul the whole night. Jack and Greg started calling me Undersoul from then on.

54986

#3 Would have to be my dad's boat. There are to many memories and years in this boat to count for it not to be in my top 3.

DO you mean BIG Greg / GNXL from Long Beach/traffic circle area, or whatever his screen name is? The electrician/nostalgia motocross guy? :D

Haven't got to see him in a few years unfortunately, I think I saw him last at Irvine on test/tune day, he was there hanging with the great Garland GN crew...

P.S. I totally get that about your dads boat... I have my dads boat which we grew up in, in my barn, deciding to either KEEP or sell...

Crazy Horse, all time favorite ..... Hondo's were so cool then, especially this one with the new T-deck ....also because I got to see it run so many times and it was so damn fast!

I would say second would be the Texan Eddie Hill .... not even 100% sure what hull but I think Kurtis, they all copied Sanger but this one a little different.
54993

So many great boats but in todays world I think I enjoy watching the K-50 as much as any ..... the history, just the boat itself and of course the driver with the heavy foot!
