For a little comparison...

A Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4 makes 700 HP from it's 396CI V12 and the car weighs 3500lbs.

It's power to weight ratio is 0.2 HP for every lb. Which is about the same as most modern 450cc dirtbikes.

A 2014 Suzuki Hyabusa is .289

A USAC Sprint car .571

A 1500 horsepower K boat weighing in at 2200 pounds comes in at .682

Top fuel hydro weighing 3300 pounds with horsepower at 8000= 2.42

A 4 door Prius wagon comes in at 134 hp and weighs 3340= .04 hp for every lb.

I RE-read your post after estimating my tub at 2000 lbs and 600HP and the figure keeps going down the more I think about it...

WIth iron heads I'm guessing my engine outweighs your BBC even with you sporting the blower/drive/hat/plate system/rigging, IDK...

I think I need to estimate at LEAST 2200 lbs if not more... You are the YODA master on light/heavy layup - weights...

GUessing my engine is around 550HP based on it pushing my 64 galaxie to 11 flat (on street meat)...

SHould put me about .25HP/lb... BUT I keep raising the weight and lowering my HP...

My mill needs at LEAST 100 more cubic inches to make use of the CJ heads... Should be interesting to see how quickly I get bored with this set up in a month or so...

They don't have a chart low enough for my heavy boat..............10K with 415hpx2, but she rides the LOTO slop with a boat load of people like a champ.

I'm sure all that weight makes your boat a wave crusher!:action-smiley-035:

If we stuff that motor in our light layup Rogers, we could get over the .50 mark.
Our 19 is a tank

You are correct, she'll go 70mph with 150 gals of fuel and six people and a case of beer in just about any water. :partyguy:

How far can you go on a tank if you keep your speed reasonable?

Busti

.158 ratio. I wonder if that's good. Don't know what that means in a boat since the load on a boat engine is like 3 time greater than a car.

She's got a 160 gal tank, but I rarely let it get under a 1/4 tank, it's safer that way, it's got twin efi 502s, if I keep the rpms around 3,500 I can go around 110-120 miles or so depending on more much weight she's got in her.

When we had her in SWF last year we went for a nice drive South from Ft. Myers Beach to Marco Island and back for lunch, that took all the fuel she had that day, we filled her up before we left and she was bone dry when we got home, we did have a few spurts of 4,500-5K rpms though, just playing in the GOM.

At almost $5 bucks a gal that was a expensive lunch that day.........yikes.
