HOTBOAT.com is proud to provide you with a sneak peak in to one of the premier high
performance marine shops around.

We were honored to meet Gary Teague of GT Performance and his staff. However,
it didn’t stop there; we had the opportunity to tour their top notch facility last week.
Located on over 3.5 acres in Upland, CA, GT Performance has been a leader in the high
performance marine industry for over 20 years. From full restorations to your basic full-
service, GT Performance can provide with you excellent service for whatever it is you
need.

Gary began working for Future Marine building boats at the young age of 19, it was then
he knew he was hooked. After Future Marine he was working solely for a guy on his
toys, boats, etc. During that time Gary was building up his own clientele and decided it
was time to go out on his own. In 1990 GT Performance was established.

One of GT’s first build’s was Joe Mitchell’s “Coin To$$” out of Parker Dam, CA. He
actually built the 1990 Hallett Vector for a gentleman by the name of Bob Stark and won
4 national championships in a row. Several years and owner’s later, Joe Mitchell bought
the boat and completely rebuilt it from the ground up. He then took it back to its original
builder, GT, to re-rig and dyno tune the motor.

Joe’s engine made over 1000 HP and over 1000 FT/LBS torque. Final tune was done
in the GT Performance test pool, and it went straight back to Parker, its original home.
The Vector can now be seen running up and down the Parker Strip. I must say, it is one
of the most beautiful boats I have ever seen. The boat is flawless, from the gel to the
rigging, it is all top notch.

It has been a good couple of years for Gary and the crew at GT performance. After
Greg Olson’s 33 Eliminator Daytona ran 173 MPH at Desert Storm in Lake Havasu,
Az, they were destined to get more out of the boat. A few months later the boat ran a
STAGGERING 192 MPH at the 2012 Lake of the Ozarks Shootout. GT and Greg Olson
were crowned with the Top Gun Trophy for the event. His boat features twin 1,800-hp
engines and an open canopy. 192 MPH in a 33 foot boat has to be one thrilling ride! At
the same event GT also had the fastest single engine boat at 148 mph owned by Buck
Stracener. A Nordic 2011 28ss Cat featuring a 572ci Imco. GT has really upped the
game, it will be very interesting to see what they have in store for 2013.

On top of building some of the fastest marine engines on the planet GT features a state
of the art dyno testing room where they test and tune all engines they build. It just so
happened that on this day they were working on one of their GT engines. For someone
that has never witnessed an engine being dyno-tuned this is one of those unforgettable
and “must” witness type of events for any motorsports enthusiast. [insert video]

Also on-site is a test pool GT uses to run boats after rigging, tuning, etc. [insert test pool

Whether it’s rigging, servicing, tuning, upgrading, gel repair or upholstery GT
Performance can take of your every need. The staff Gary employs are all top notch in
their respective craft. This is very well evident in the nature of boats GT builds and works
on. The photos don’t do this caliber of work justice. Stay tuned for what Gary has in store
for 2013, for certainly there are bigger and better things to come! The amount of work
they put in to each and every project is unreal. Gary also personally oversees every
project and nothing leaves his shop without meeting his personal demands. GT is also
now offering off-road engine packages, just another quality service brought to you by
GT!

Thank you to everyone over at GT Performance and especially Gary for letting us tour
his facility.

There was so much action at that place when we were there my head was spinning. Not to mention the aroma of brute horsepower in the air.

I had to smoke a cig when we were done lol
