Its time to start thinking about this again.

Last years show was definitely larger than years past. I haven't decided if we will have a presence again next year, but I'm considering it.

My only issue with last year was the overwhelming presence of pontoon boats. Not that I'm not a fan, would just prefer to see more performance boats. So we shall see.

Poontoons are just the "in thing" right now. Will still go to show though.

I must've been asleep at the helm. Did I just read that pontoons are the in thing? Those are words I'd never imagine would occupy the same sentence. Not a hater, in our family we have a 24' J/C pontoon, 2 Honda PWC's, 24' Lavey Craft, 21' Hallett Vector and an 89' Bezer.

Pontoons seem to be the things selling which would make them the "in" thing to manufacturers. Tons of them at last years show and throughout the year.

I have not been since 2007, I think that was the last year it was on 2 levels. I'm seriously thinking about going again this year. It would nice to see an exhibitor list though. Dead link on their site.

I'll see if I can get through to the progressive people.

From what I understand Toons are the number #1 selling boat on the market as of last year

When are you going to bring all the hotboat stuff to LOTO for the Shootout.

There's a new main sponsor this year, it may be in a new location, closer back where it all started back 25+ years ago.

Performance Boat Center is the main sponsor now, they have a place at the 21MM, C-Ron's is at the 35MM, I've been having a hard time finding out if they're going to leave it at the 35MM, I'll keep you posted.

The L.A. Show did have an "in-water" component last year at MDR. This coming year, however, it is focusing on sailboats ("SailFest" I believe they are calling it -- probably because they canceled the long-running Long Beach Boat Show last October which was largely sail oriented -- sad to see a show like that disappear after nearly 50 years). It will be interesting to see what the Fred Hall Show looks like in early March at the Long Beach Convention Center -- the ASA (American Sportfishing Association) recently sold their interest in the show back to Bart Hall along with new partner Duncan McIntosh of Sea Magazine and The Log fame -- also the producer of the Newport In-Water Show in April and the Lido Boat Show in the fall). You've got to expect the Hall and McIntosh tandem will significantly ramp-up the boat count at the traditional fishing show in March possibly making the L.A. Convention Center Show look really small -- but who knows?

I go every year, why I don't know. It's more of a ritual then anything else for me.

Always loved the Fred Hall show. Timing is always good to book a trip for mid to late summer during that show.

The LA show hasn't been what it used to be in 10 years or so. Not worth the trip from Havi to come check it out. I haven't been to the Havasu show, but from what I hear its just as good as that LA show is now, if not better.

One would think with the bazillion dollars per month I make I should be able to afford to do a booth LOL. Hell, I should be able to afford to buy the place hahaha. Sorry inside joke.

I'm either gonna go Friday for the day, or Saturday and spend the night. Maybe hit a couple local establishments :D

Well just walked the show in about an hour. I'm trying to remember which manufacturers were here last year. Sure seemed like fewer performance boats. More decks and toons and ski boats and less jet skis. Pics in a couple hours

Okay here are the pics. I really wasn't there long. Honestly not many power boats. Very glad to see the guys who were there, but in all honesty the show needs more performance boats and less pontoon's and ski boats. imo of course.

I'm actually not thrilled with them. I remember having the same issue last year due to the lighting and probably not setting up my flash right. So I'm doing a remedial lighting class now LOL. Memory is the second thing to go :D
