Why can't the first lady "put her hand on her heart" during the national anthem and on Veterans Day, what a disgrace.

I agree and at the last few events I went to I looked around and about only 40% of the people, maybe less, actually put their hands over their heart. I say we ship them to Iran for a month, I guarantee upon return they'll never forget about the respectful placement of their hand. It shouldn't have to take living in a different country to appreciate the wonderful one we live in.

I understand the need for keeping the public informed, but that need should be weighed against the safety of the people involved and ultimately the safety of the general public. They were able to make that determination with the First, Second etc., Amendments, then why not use that same logic?

I too am a fiscal conservative republican, but we must understand to get back to our Ronnie R glory days we have to be a little more moderate or we won't sway any of the independents and we need them to beat the goofs on the left, if we go too far hard right we'll be doomed forever, I with you in spirits guys, but the fringe on either side will never get elected.

Funny story, when the Ferguson thing flared up initially they had a big "register to vote/get out and vote" drive/push with super high promise to register/vote... They were estimating a BIG jump in registration/voting in the last little election here, BUT in the end, when it came down to - *providing your real identity *providing your residence - the actual registration/turn out was a TINY % of the promise that they started with...

As motorists use less and less gas, gas tax revenues to pay for state highways, roads and bridges shrink. Meanwhile, as gas prices fall, so does the sales tax generated by fuel sales. In California, among the taxes collected on fuel is a 2.25% sales tax on gasoline and a 9.67 percent tax on diesel.
Some state lawmakers feel a mileage tax is the best solution.
To pay for the shortfall, California officials are considering a plan that would replace California’s gas tax with a fee for each mile motorists drive. Drivers who log the most miles will end up paying the most, no matter how fuel efficient their car is.
In 2003, revenue reached $2.3 billion. In 2013, it was $2.62 billion. Governor Jerry Brown says there is a $59 million backlog on highway maintenance.
A 1.5 cent mileage tax is already being implemented in a test program in Oregon. Similar programs are under consideration in Colorado and Washington.
The plan has supporters and detractors across the political spectrum.
The current state gas has remained at 36 cents a gallon since 1994. The federal gas tax has been 18.4 cents a gallon for more than 20 years.

Had to cancel my Met Life policy, so I called their 800#. Got connected to someone somewhere. No clue where. Honestly couldn't tell what country they were in. But they absolutely could not speak English. After trying to communicate with them for nearly 5 minutes, she said "would you like me to transfer you to a US agent?" Hell to the fucking yes.

Met Life is huge. And I can certainly understand trying to save a buck and employ people, but at what cost?
