The Worlds Longest Powerboat race took place on Sunday the 31st of August , 17 boats were entered though 3 pulled out due to issues of readiness for what can be described as a somewhat gruelling race to both man and machine . The fleet left Cowes on the Isle of Wight at 9am and within a short distance two retired with technical difficulties but the rest arrived in Torquay in Devon with a couple showing battle scars from the run .
First to arrive was the beautifully prepared Vector Martini powered by Ilmor engines with crew of Peter Dredge ,Mal Crease and Simon Powell averaging 66.7mph shortly followed by Smoking Aces also with the highly successful power units from Ilmor and driven by brothers Chris and Nick Dodge with an average of 63.28mph. Third to arrive was the Buzzi ,Seatek diesel powered Silverline with father and son team ,Drew and Ali Langdon averaging 60.75mph
then in order of arrival : Hot Lemon , Birreta Due, Team Barwood ,Blackball Racing ,Dry Martini ,Fugative ,Grey Ghost ,Predator, and HTS Perkins .
