I looking to get an RC boat and want to go with a gas one. Is there any reason to not go gas and maybe electric ? Also are there any brands I should stay away from ?

Personally I would go electric, The brushless Traxxas Villian is a beast. Why I would defer from going gas you might ask? Well it is easy, if the tune is off or it runs out of gas you are dead in the water, you could be staring at that boat a long time waiting for it to drift to shore, or possibly going for a swim. Why I like electric stuff, well the modern batteries for RC stuff is insane, I believe the traxxas villian is 6s brushless, yep the motors are now brushless...6s is over 22volta of power, and guess what when the battery is low you can limp it back to the edge of the pond. Just my .02...I used to love everything being nitro or gas, but have since become a believer in the electric stuff. Plus on the new style batteries the run time is insanely long.

I had a nitro and it sucked whenever it stopped in the middle if the channel in the middle of winter when the water was smooth enough to run.

I was at the register with the Spartan when I realized my girl had my ATM. I'm glad I didn't get it, all the upgrades to make it do 50 mph is the same amount it will cost me the same as if I buy the top of the line boat with an upright feature and the best battery and motor. I will post a pic tomorrow when I get it with all the specs. The Spartan comes with a battery that only goes 30 mph and a shitty 6 hr. charger it's an entry level boat. I want to walk out done deal no upgrades.

Pretty badass...I dig the adjustable trim tabs, however o would already be in there trying to design a way to link them up to a servo, that way you can trim from the the boat, from the remote

Took it to the lake today, gotta step up the battery and motor. The Youtube videos on this boat are sick, and i'm not close to that speed. STOCK SUCKS
