Surrounded by 4 or 5 fires nearby. Closest is maybe 4 miles.
Took my truck to help be ready to evacuate some horses. Gnarley day.

Those are shots of the fire in Carlsbad near Palomar Airport, Aviara and LaCosta. Has burned industrial bldgs from reports. Ugly.
There's 3 other fires within 15 miles of this one.:(

Yeah, but my son and his wife are on edge with their horses. They were given a green light from calfire then shortly later a flareup put them on caution again.
I'm less than a mile from one of the evacuation shelters.

I'm safe but guys like Royal and Tobtek might not be so safe.
A friends daughter was 3 questions from finishing her final at CSUSM then they made 'em all evacuate, was supposed to graduate today:mad: no idea how thats going shake out.
My daughter is supposed to get her two AA's from Palomar college tomorrow.....we will see if they will still have commencement or not.:rolleyes:

The Carlsbad fire was under control, not sure if the winds caused any issues with it yet.
The San Marcos fire in the last hour started moving east and is causing some major damage. Mandatory executions from San Marcos all the way to the 15. If anyone is in that area and needs a place to crash let me know.

Wow, this is crazy!
Don't take chances people, remember the 19 fire fighters that perished in AZ last year when the fire surrounded them. :(

They had to yesterday. But we're cleared today and open for business at 7.
They had my boat and brought it to my house (coastal Carlsbad) yesterday when they evacuated to make sure it was safe and get as many boats as possible inside before they had to leave.

Yes. Fires at the closest point were 6 miles south of us. I know other members evacuated in San Marcos and I hope they are OK and their houses are safe. Only issue by me is the ash in the air, very heavy today.

Walked out of my office for lunch and I smell smoke all the way up here in Ontario. Not sure if there is a closer fire now.

Chatted with Steve Royal who is in evac region in San Marcos last night, he stayed home. Sent me pics of like 8 engines parked on the street behind him, standing guard in case of flareup. Most of the fire had been driven east of him by then.

It's getting bad on Pendleton. Son was just told to leave the base. There is massive aviation fuel storage facility in the path of the flames.
