Calling all v-drives! Come and get it while we've got it! No telling how long our water will last this season.
Some of the local members of the Classic V-Drive Club Of America will be up at Millerton Lake this Saturday morning to celebrate the beginning of our boating season.
Hook em up and come join us. I think some folks will show up about 10am. I will try to get there closer to 9.
Ya, the lake is low but there is enough water to play in. I will be using Ramp 5 because there is plenty of parking right there on the ramp. I plan to check out the work I've done since last season, check out the lake and hang out with those that show up for a few hours till it gets too rough.

Look for the maroon chevy pulling the black/silver 67 Belmont. Come on over and introduce yourself.

If I remember, the launch fees are $17 for the boat/tow vehicle and they were manning the post last Saturday.

Any questions, post up or pm me.

I did this trip back in the late 90's with my Dad. Slept on the deck of my boat. :countingsheep: :D

It's decent size when it's full. You should bring your boat over sometime. There is a group of guys that like to run their offshore toon type boat's. They make a banzai run to the back and party all day then banzai back to the ramp in the evening.

Right now the water is pretty chilly but in our 100+ degree summers, the water temp is closer to that of a spa

We had a great time - thanks for coming out
All the rest of those fair-weather boaters missed out!
Good to meet you HotWater and Propless
That is a bad-ass boat - it really sounded great, way out in front of me!
Let's do it again soon
Everything I did over the 'winter' worked nicely and the boat ran great for a 47 year old!

Here are 2 pics of ramp 5 right after our last cloudy day, exactly one month ago today
We were pretty far down ramp 5
39371
39372
Last Saturday I drove up just to check it out
It was just a bit further up on ramp 5, right about where the dirt road takes off from the far side of the ramp in the second pic

We got some good rain the past 24 hours and I was surprised how fast it made a difference in the lake
The water level was about 10 feet down from the top of ramp 5 today when we got there to launch
HotWater was told to use ramp 4 because the level was rising so fast today

The last pic is from today when we were done
39373
Look in the water about half way down in the pic, about a third of the way from the right side of the pic and you can see the white line that ends at the top of the ramp
The water level was about 10 feet past the top of the ramp and the end of the white line, well into the parking area
We had just enough slope left to get the boat onto the trailer
Happy to get the rain - would love to get more - hope it lasts

Thanks to my buddy for coming up to help out
Hope your back is okay after hitting that frikin Tuna boat wake off that out there while we were chasin HotWater!
Love the GoPro - check out the reflection of the clouds on the deck
Then the clear, blue, warm skies later today
Good time

Lol! You should pick up a circle flat project. I'd love to see what you could do with it.

They are the perfect little lake rod!

Yeah, I wouldn't mind getting that canary that jimmy laid up but it's the wrong color, yello. All white get would be nice. Plus I want something light so I can run a sbc cuz I already have a new stack injected efi small block.

If that smally is built to rev it would be killer in a lightweight Canary. Let it scream and it would rip!

JusTrouble wasn't afraid of getting his boat wet. Maybe he hasn't grown into a full fledged V-driver yet. The boat looked GREAT out there !!

You need to throw some paint over that primer area. Don't get crazy, just make it look good from 10 feet.

Yea, or it would be nice if he at least washed the dirt off it. Looked like he was trying to start a vegetable garden on the deck when I showed up this morning.:AngryFinger_7WSKJO:

It's the junkyard dog rat flat, it has to have some primer;). I've actually thought about trying to do something but nothing is going to match.

Hey trouble, you gonna put adjustable plates on that thing?

Simple answer is YES. I already have most of the parts but I need time to do it. I also have most of the parts to upgrade from the SteerMaster single cable steering. I worked my ass off on this thing all winter and got about 1/16 of what I thought I would have done by now. Takes longer when you dont know wtf you are doing I guess. But it all turned out great so far. I pulled out the 2-piece driveline and the screechin Hallibrand parallel v-drive and replaced it (myself) with a split case Casale which meant I had to move the seats and figure out how to mount the safety guards around the new driveline with the alternator and now I still have to figure out how to make two individual seats out of Dad's original old rear bench seat and match the upholstery on the new driveline cover I made that goes between them. That run-on sentence matches the way it feels when I think about it. At my pace, this could take a while.

Two and Half Flats runs a 68 i believe , sanger with a small block, its quick and runs about 90 mph , that sucker turns so hard he throws passengers out all the time lol
