Scenario: You have nothing in your bar at home. You want the basics to make most drinks. We have two categories. The broke and the wealthy. Make me a bar.

Do you keep liquor in the cellar or just wine?

Do you keep liquor in the cellar or just wine?Well..........that depends on whether you classify Cognac as liquor or wine.

This is the only thing I keep with the wine other than the butter dish :D

OK so it looks like there are some drinkers on here. .I like it. It looks like Paul65k, Napanutt, and Eli have it down. Mateo's looks like mine and does the job just fine for me. Now let's get into specifics. One of each liquor. What is the "value" brand but still is drinkable in most settings? And what is the couple bottles we all should have for special occasions?

I'll start, vodka is the staple of every bar, I would guess it's used in more drinks than anything else. Second you would want a bottle of bourbon.

There have been a few more additions to the Jack shelf recently as well :) Freezer has fireball and goose in it. Vodka is for the guests, whiskey's are obviously my thing.

I am hearing a lot of good things about Tito's vodka. Is it any good?

I'm not an expert, but I've heard McRib say it's one of his favs. He'll likely see this and comment.

Titos is ok, not really a fan. Chopin Potato is our fav. Chopin Wheat is also good. Our backup that isn't bad is Kettle.

Then there's Fireball. Lol

It's good but Effen is better but more expensive.

Here is a good example

Vodka: Titos; Grey Goose; Effen
Tequila: Suarez; Milagro; Patron: silver for mix and gold for shots
Rum: captain Morgan and Bacardi
Grand Mariner
Jack Daniels
Gin: Bombay Saphire and Hendricks
Scotch: The Glenlivet; Dewar's
