While the venue has not yet been determined, Outerlimits Offshore Powerboats is gearing up for an attempt to break the V-bottom kilo record in late March. The record currently stands at 171 mph and was set by a 42-foot Fountain Powerboats V-bottom in 2004.

Wonder what power the Fountain had in '04, 1075 Mercs? That doesn't seem like enough to push a 42' Fountain to 177. The boat has Mercury logo on the side in video.

It says at the 16 second mark that the Fountain had staggered 1,500's.

Thanks, that makes more sense. The Mercury logo on the side had me confused. Must be Sterlings?

I met Reggie in a restaurant in SC about 14 years ago with my brother . He was by himself and seemed like a really cool guy who was definitely fired up on his V bottoms they were refining at the time. My little brother asked me if I would have recognized him if he wasn't wearing the full on apparel w his name embroidered on the front etc. and I remember laughing and saying probably not.
