A little shot of my Southwind the day i picked her up. I have stripped all paint and have 90 percent of the body work done.Just the rear transom left. She is upside down and hopefully hitting the gel coaters this month.. I got laid off work so the process has slowed big time.. lol..

We prety much have "projects" going all the time however this ones a bit different , Rhondas and my very first jet "Afternoon Delight", purchased new was a 18' 76 Miller it was great fun and a great boat but we sold it in 1978 with a baby on the way , The in 2004 after not seeing the boat for almost 30 years it came to JBP for jet work and we promply bought it back , restored it , then sold it again . Recently found a nearly identical boat and will once more embark on a 2012 resto.

photos are of My boat new 1976 (me at 25) , the 2004' of the same boat/resto with my son (then) 20 driving , and last ,the most recent Miller resto canidate this week

Pick up a 78 Bahner last week and decited to clean it up a bit. Pulled it off the trailer and painted it and put new fender wood and carpet on it. I left the bunkes on cause they were almost brand new. I took the boat to my brothers shop and pulled the motor and am going to put it on the run stand and dial it in. Has a frash 468 full roller runs pretty good. Boat spins 5500 at 79 mph on are hand held gps we use for the Gps NF class we race in. So i smoothed out the bildge and am gel coating it at Superior-Fiberglass and she should be ready to rock while i keep working on my SWTD.. Will post more pics as i get her done.

Thats cool, he used my seats as the design for his, but they didnt do a very good job. What else are you doing to it? Why did he get rid of it?

Im about to start working on the mantras trailer. Needs new carpet, few lights, and fresh paint. Luckily the boat can stay on the lift at grandmas :)

Whats the best way to polish gelcoat? Is it just like a car?

Kind of depends on the finish condition as to what steps to take , is it clear coated ? On really chalky oxidized Gel we may start with 1000,1500,2000 grit and progresivly work up to some 3m compounds and finishers

Just finishing up my little boat for the season.. 78 Bahner.. Was going to do just a couple little repairs on this when i bought it. Ended up flipping it over and glassing some cracks and gringing out the stress cracks Sanded and smoothed the bildge and gelcoated it..Put new bearing buddys and sanded and painted the trailer and fixed a crack on it. Has a 468 and runs pretty well for a river boat.

Its a gel coat guess its cleared?? Just the transom really needs it, sat in the sun. Its just really dull. The rest would just benefit from a polish.
