We just got here and got checked in. It is sunny and 75 degrees. Going to Cole's Chop House tonight and the wine tasting tomorrow. Private tasting at Caymus is our first stop.

They really are nuts here.

Welcome to Napa...LOL...seriously what did you expect? But on the other hand, the place looks amazing, as does your wife. Happiest of birthdays to you darling...Chrissie's birthday is Weds. I am taking her out for a double double....my trophy husband salary is far less than yours....:D

BTW, Chrissie recommends skipping the main course and going straight to the bananas foster desert. I recommend the porterhouse myself.... :)

Yes, Chrissie has spent a LOT of time in Napa partaking of the local "nectar" long before I met her, she know her wines.....when she saw the pic of the bottle of cakebread her eyes lit up and she got all dreamy and said "Ohhhhh, that's great wine!!" Paul we would be happy and thankful for a 7 dollar bottle of Costco wine any time...

Eli, Duckhorn is a winery, they are known for their Merlots, they also own Parraduxx.

Becki and I were in the Napa Valley back in November for 4 days, I stay out of Napa proper, preference. Although we did go to Etude. Orin Swift is by far my favorite, really enjoy Philip Togni, Elizabeth Spencer and Biale!! Coles is very good, haven't been in years though, Bottega was excellent as was The Press and Tra Vigna.

We tasted a Pinot Noir at Caymus that we liked. It was fuller bodied than a typical Pinot. We bought a bottle. Come on over and we can drink it :)

Sent from my Bat CaveDon't forget the Oregon Pinots from the Willamette Valley......personally I think these are some of the finest in the world. You can find King Estate in many places and occasionally you can find one that I really like called Witness Tree.....spectacular IMHO.

There are also some very good Pinots that come from the Russian River Valley in Sonoma......Gary Farrell is a good one, although not as good as it was since he sold the winery.

Cheers! (Literally):drinkin:

Sent from my Bat CaveSee if you can find a bottle of King Estate Pinot Noir.......it should be around $20-25 a bottle and it is pretty good. They sell it by the case here http://www.wine-searcher.com/merchant/1600?wine_id_F=1502841&from_page_F=WSL which is in Del Mar but maybe they have it by the bottle as well. That wine store in the middle of Del Mar has some great selections as well....I suggest going in there and asking their opinion on any Oregon Pinots (not Pinot Grigio yuk) I always thought that they had a very nice selection. :thumb:
