Hey Jon, I've talked to Gordy about this and he doesn't know and I was to young too know the difference back then. It's listed as an 18'6" and also as a 19 in the 2 ads below. My guess would be it's a gull bottom. When the boat resurfaces someday we will know. Gordy said he's seen it at talked to the owner (years ago) and the guy wasn't interested in selling.

They were actually called "gull Bottoms" the gull "wing" name has found it's way into internet forums from people like mouzer. lol The gull wing name belongs to the CP's and copy's of. :)
I don't have any pics of a 19 gull bottom that I'm away of. I think the gull bottom "design" was post super sanger and pre runnerbottom. Maybe just a year or two between. I would guess you could order a gull bottom in either 18 or 19.
Sangers circle boats were represented quite well especially once the circlerunner came out 74 or 75. Chuck Boyd went through at least 6 with his Sanger sponsorship alone. I'm not sure if boat bottom rules or owner preference to B boats did away with the circlerunners.

perfect, this helps Jerry. So a Gull Bottom could be a Flat, semi v as in the picture I posted. Could it also be in the runner, step bottom or no?

The gull bottom is considered a true flat and not a runner bottom. Slight v in the back of any flatty is still considered a true flat.

:) Good to hear from you Jon!
I just ran across an Industry Report on Sanger printed Feb '73 where they say the new concave bottom flatty is 18' 6". I can't say how many lengths they may have built these in, but that's what the paper says.

I've probably asked Chuck this same question at one time or another, but to be honest I don't remember. :D I'll check with him next time I see him.
I do remember him telling me he went through a bunch of hulls (7 or 8 I think...?). Chuck had the only circle team receiving multiple "free" hulls from Sanger. The rigging was reused. Chuck Boyd Jr. Raced a Sanger in a Thanksgiving race that I taped (PS) back in 98 or 99. I don't know if it was an old Hobbit or not. Larry Dalhoff had what he said was the last Sanger Sanger Hobbit built and he used to bring it out to Irvine lake. I don't know who owns it currently, but I've seen it at Irvine after Larry passed.
This is Cold Fire vs the Sanger called "Justice".

SOunds like a kick ass plan to write off your trips/hotel/expenses to Needles/Parker/Boise if you ask me...
Form a 501c and have quarterly meetings at a designated location (RCL's shop, Billy's shop, Blue Water Casino)... Maybe kick around ideas for a new logo/sticker/shirt, have someone take minutes and call it done... :)
As my grandpa used to say "its not how much you make, it's how much you save"... ;)

Its was all about the awards banquet Sat night. :buddies: I presented the Tom Conant memorial Sportsmanship Award to Victor Roth. :thumb: I don't recall much after that, apparently just like the person taking the meeting minutes.

Sanger K boats.

I have a 1990 K-BOATS booklet that I picked up from Gordo down at the PFAFF shop years ago, I had planned to scan/post the pages at random... It has a really nice write up on Gordy...

I like the part where it says the purse winnings.....$4,000 to $10,000. If you were running in Canada there purses were in the $10,000 dollar range. In the states. Not so much.
