This morning was the 7th annual Havasu Palms to Havasu Landing off road event. This is a tradition here in the park and includes pretty much any off-road vehicle (Jeeps, Motorcycles, ATV's, UTV's, Sand Cars.....pretty much anything that you think can make it the ~20 miles each way. We celebrate the year with a breakfast at the Casino and have a nice opportunity to get caught up with neighbors that we may not have see for a while!

It's great fun with ages of riders/drivers from 7 to at least 70 this year. I counted a total of 28 vehicles (4 jeeps, 1 land Cruiser, 6 UTV's, 7 ATV's and the balance motorcycles). There were easy as well as tough routes around the toughest of obstacles and this year everybody made it both ways with no injuries or mechanical breakdowns (although one vehicle needed some maintenance during the meal stop). I counted 48 people at Breakfast and every year the group get a bit bigger.

The views along the route that took us along the lake shore provided some great views of the scenery as well as the city and lake. We logged a total of 42 miles round trip to a destination that is 8.1 miles each way as the crow flies.

Here are some pictures....hope you enjoy!!

Happy New Year!

Here we are ready to go with a clean Jeep

Not to diminish your tradition, just haven't heard about it before such as the Desert Bar run. I didn't know there was a trail/rd from The Palms to HL.
Probably good you guys do it for breakfast rather than an afternoon run. :D

Spent a day running the dirt bike in Havasu a few years back. Such great riding. It was a turn around trip for us leaving at 5am from SoCal, selling a bike in Havasu, riding all day, hitching up a buddy's Hallett and getting home around 9pm. Good times.

Good times.Interesting.....there are a few "Hard Core" dirt bike riders that do a Twentynine Palms to Havasu Palms run (and Back) every year in the spring.......they can apparently get here without any paved roads....other than crossing. They look like they have a great time.....I can ask my neighbor when it is if you're interested??
