Do yall have any traditional foods that you enjoy on New Years Eve???

My grandma ALWAYS made Black Eye Peas for health and Coconut Cake for wealth...

About 15 years ago I started making vietnamese style egg rolls (my buddy and his wife taught me)... IF by chance I dont make them I get a ration of shit from everyone for not making them... Time to start slicing cabbage/onions/grating carrots/browning pork sausage/cooking shrimp soon... They are awesome with hot mustard...

I will post up pics later...

One of my uncles always has to bring pickled herring...

I really dont have any NYE traditions....Just look for a Party to go to and every year it is something different.
Last year we were on a cruise and this year we are just going to my moms house for a party.
I did pick up this recipe for tequila shrimp we are making tonight...Just soak a de-shelled/de-veined shrimp in tequila, salt and lime for 1-2 hours and each shrimp is supposed to be like taking a shot....Ill post how it turns out later.

Decided to throw a little 'Open-House' this afternoon and evening for my neighbors here on Katherine Drive. Most said "yea that sounds good" so out of 30 or so neighbors I'm guessing that I might see 20.

Nothing fancy, cocktails and a bowl of my World famous (well, maybe just Nation famous) chili beans and tortillas..

2MM your egg rolls sound awesome. We don't do much for NYE food wise, but put together a little buffet for NYD. I'm making a pot of chili and I'm using the Prime Rib I have left over (9lb roast for 4 people) from Christmas day for some thin sliced beef dip sandwiches. Everything else is finger food, wings, pizza rolls, taquitos, chips and dip, etc. It's a day to graze and watch football. I do this for my family and a few friends to help them through their hang-overs. I quit partaking in the alcohol abuse part years ago, but my family does a fine job of carrying on that tradition. :beer
