Balboa Island

Spent the day in Newport today. Walked the entire island, took the ferry over to the peninsula, grabbed some ice cream comes for the kids then rode the ferry back. Truly an awesome day with the family.

I lived there until I was about 10 (our vacation house), still remember the same ferry like it was yesterday, only it was about 45 years ago ...lol I still have this one pic of our house 750 sq ft. I took my kids awhile back to show them around the island and see the old house but it was gone, condo's now. Always remembered the address 1038 W. Balboa Blvd..... seemed big to me at the time:biggrin:29504

I don't sunburn, due to great skin pigment as well as sunblock ;)

However, tonight will suck and tomorrow night it should tone down. In 3 days it will either turn into a great tan or peel in a disgusting fashion. If you peel, keep that area out of the sun as it is more sensitive.

Please use sunblock. Bull Frog Surfer Gel is very good. It even stays on for hours In water. Although, it's tough to wash off. But, that's better than a sunburn.

Had a beach house over there for the summer years ago. We were about 2 blocks from the ferry and our beach cruisers knew the route from the house to the bars up on the peninsula and back to the house. It was like they were on autopilot as they would just head right to Woody's at the beginning of the ride. :party-smiley-020:

Spent a lot of time down there over the years. Drive down to the Wedge, stop at the Crab Cooker for early dinner, then hang all night at the Rendezvous ..
