Ron that was superb! Wow they were hauling ass. Was that Jim Lancon in the red boat in the beginning? Whoever it was they got some killer air. I couldn't believe those big boats at the beginning just sitting there in the middle of the race start...

No,, Jim was further over next to us, closer to the oil island. That red boat (twin engine) would have been Carl Goldsmith pulling Martie Wells, who battled with Luke Keys for the entire race and edged him out at the finish. I believe Martie was the first across the finish line(winning F1 class), but due to the small boat starting advantage actually was 7th overall.

Some serious air time too!! Anybody know what happened with the fishing boats as they approach the island? Looks like a pretty close call?

I know the video is to exhibit the race and the skiers endurance for an hour at speeds of 80+, but I love that 300X. Arguably the best high performance outboard Merc Racing ever produced when you consider longevity and high performance. Hated to see the all those badass outboards(300X, 2.5/280, 225X) go by the way in '05. :(
