Huntington Harbor Boat Parade Cruise of Lights

Throwing this out there to see if people are interested in going and having a HotBoat meet up PotLuck style?

I've never been so if there's another option I'm open to suggestions. Thought it would be fun to meet up before the Holidays.

We can also bring an unwrapped toy and I'll drop them off at the Marine Corp base for Toys for Tots.

Ok, question for the masses...

1.) Do we want to meet for drinks

2.) Do we want to meet for dinner

3.) Will there be a need for a hotel for anyone?

Just want to know what I should be looking for this weekend.

Eli, do you have the name of the harbor cruise line so we can see about capacity and group discount pricing or should we just go individual? If they have a website I can post that up so everyone can get their tickets...

Just trying to help out and not step on anyone's toes.

Wow, you're all over this. I've never been so I'm open to ideas. Hell with all this info you can step on my head!

I need a hotel. My only requirement is I don't have to drive from the drinking to the hotel oh and they don't have hourly rates :D

If there is a big group of us, I wonder what it would cost to hire a private boat for the evening to take us around. I mean it may be cheaper if we have enough people. Most of the time they would let us bring on booze as well.
Just a thought...

So from what I have found so far, it looks like most of the charters leave from Newport harbor.
I can send a few emails tomorrow and see if they would go to Huntington for the parade and if so, how much.

We can bring the hotboat banner, zip tie rope lights around it and enter the parade lol

Booze cruise! Eat before, that could get costly. Unless you find a charter that let's us bring stuff on, then I would say potluck. But most likely you will have to use their caterer.

Got some info on 1 boat that is available on the 7th.
Personally I dont really like this deal as it felt like I was talking to a used car salesman.

This is the boat:
http://www.admiralyachtcharters.com/yachts/white-light-yacht

Info:
49 people max, leaves from Newport and will go to Huntington
$3200 for the 4 hours + $200 for a bartender + tax.
They have an option where for $25 its all you can drink for the 4hrs......Dont think they are too familiar with river people.
Boat will leave at 7pm.
Prices is based on cash/check. If we pay by CC they add 3% more.

Basically we are looking at 100 per person for this boat.
IMHO I am going to keep looking....Let me know all your thoughts.

So from what I am gathering, alot of the "charter companies" only sail around Newport Harbor. I cant find a charter company in Huntington Harbor.
Are we married to sailing up to Huntington or can we stay in Newport? From what I hear, people decorate their houses in Newport as well.
Thoughts?

We need someone's private yacht that we can rent for the evening and take us around.
Any word "She's Mine"

Just got off the phone with this company.
http://paradisoyachtcharters.com/

Their price $3500 for 4 hours and it accommodates up to 55 people.
If we want to add 1 hour, its $750
I asked about booze and they said since they have a liquor license they have to pour the alcohol but they would let us BYOB.
This boat stays in Newport but the lady also said the boat is decorated and the houses are all decorated and they will take us around.
What the lady did say was that Boats dont generally go into Hunting Harbor because the bridge is too low for alot of the boats.

I like this one better than the previous.

So if the math is right it's about $63 a person is this right?

Roughly, Honestly, I would plan on $80-$100 just to be safe incase we want to spend an extra hour and of course there is always the inevitable tax they hit us with. Also depends on the amount of people we get to go.
Im still looking and hoping someone on the boards knows someone with a private boat that can take us all out and we can kick them down the money.

What the lady did say was that Boats dont generally go into Hunting Harbor because the bridge is too low for alot of the boats.

I like this one better than the previous.

I like this one too. I say 4 hours is plenty. So I say invite people ad lets get 50. Everyone bring booze and ice we are good to go. Do they have cups music?? Stay in Newport

I have a call out to my buddy, just waiting to hear back from him.

Just called this company.

THese are all fishing boats that cruise the harbor.
Although they are cheaper, they do not allow alcohol on board.
THis is the exact boat that is available.

Out of the 3 I checked out, I think option 2 is the best.

Forgot to ask about cups and music Wendi. I will call back in a bit and ask.
