Ok here we go again. We are just getting started on a 28 foot eliminator eagle. As of now the boat is getting new gel coat and all the hardware will be redone. Hopefully as the project progresses the owner will decide to do a bit more. I really would like to re rig the engine compartment area and dash. The boat is currently painted and has had its fair share of abuse. I don't know how many engine and drive combinations have been in this boat but I can say it had a blower motor at one point. I will try to stay on top of posting pictures along the way instead of waiting until the end. If there is anything specific you would like to see just ask.

Great thread. Keep the progress pics coming. I would like to see a step by step progression of the re-gel. Also, how about more info on what is happening with the 240 Hallett in the background on the last pic?

I will post as many pictures as I can. The boat in the background is a 22 howard magnum offshore. It sank years back and came in when it started leaking fuel. The tank had rotted out and was seeping fuel into the boat. We cut the tank out and glassed in a new one along with a completely new floor and two bulkheads.

Nice! you guys take on some serious projects!

The owner of this Eliminator must have got a smoking deal on it to be putting the money into it!

I can attest that this particular 28 was rode hard and put away wet but always handled all the hell that was thrown at it. A real testament to Eliminator's build quality. Can't wait to follow the progress.

Boat is completely stripped but the customer is in no big hurry. Had to move on to a few other projects. Probably have an update in a week or two.

Sanded off all the paint and found this. Actually a pretty nice gel coat scheme.

All the holes are now filled. Another day of sanding and it will be ready for color.

That is all fiberglass. There is not an ounce of bondo on this boat.

That gel scheme looks better than the paint job. What were they thinking?

He was trying to do a really wild paint scheme but the painter was in over his head.

Color is almost all done. Just lots of sanding left. Lots and lots of sanding.

Convinced the owner to let me gel coat the bilge. When we got it stripped apart we realized how bad it was.

Because eliminator basically uses honeycomb cardboard as a floor with a layer of glass on either side we wouldn't be able to easily paint it. The floor was saturated in oil and years of grime. You can't grind down to fresh glad because there just isn't enough there and replacing floors is out of the budget. We decided to go with carpet on the floors and gel on the transom and in the bilge.

Got a few parts bolted on and I really like the silver on red.

Ok. Here are a few more pictures. The boat left today. The owner will install his interior and wire the stereo and it will be at desert storm. It isn't done but it will run. We will tie up loose ends next week. http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/04/22/ede7age2.jpghttp://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/04/22/mygy9ume.jpghttp://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/04/22/5uza5ese.jpghttp://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/04/22/7y8uqege.jpghttp://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/04/22/4umaty8a.jpghttp://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/04/22/nuzy6a9u.jpg

Thanks. I thought I had some dash pictures but I guess not. I will get a bunch next week. I am horrible at getting pictures and posting progress pics. Never seems to be enough time in the day.

I think the boat came out really nice. It wasn't a complete custom rig. We retained a lot of existing parts. Just cleaned up the way wires and hoses were routed. It's amazing how big of a mess you end up with after 14 years of adding and replacing parts, quick fixes at the lake, and multiple owners. I am not a fan of red at all but I will admit it looks great against all the metallic silver and polished stainless.
