I know Nordic was messing around with a Diesel power option (for new boats) several years ago, but I really haven't heard anything since. Why don't we see more performance boats utilizing diesel power? Any ideas?

Good question, you would think they could get there with gearing. Would it be because of weight?

Diesel engines are very heavy. I'd also assume a built / tuned diesel engine would grenade out drives left and right. I think it would be a terrible idea. Just more reasons for the environmentalists to kill recreational boating. I've seen that PPE E-Ticket take off in Havasu and it rolled a lot of coal. Look what they did with two strokes. They'd ban diesel engines faster than you could say Nancy Pelosi.

Saw a guy, not your pic I believe, running one of the Parker races earlier this year. V drive maybe? Not sure, I'll try and dig up the pics.

Eliminator built a 43' Eagle with twin diesels a few years ago. If I remember correctly it didn't reach the top speed they were trying to get out of it. I think someone repowered it with gas motors.

Domin8er build one also. Duramax with a banks kit on it if memory serves me. Imco drive too. Nordic did one and the 43 eliminator only saw low 80's or high 70's. I think they were the only recent (last 8 yrs) that tried Diesels in a performance type boat. I hope someone corrects me but I think the dom and the nordic only saw low 60's in boats that saw 70's when powered with gas. The upside was they were seeing these top speeds at 2500 rpm vs 5200. They had to have been pigs out of the hole.

With all the torque you can make boosting these things, I don't see why they haven't figured out the prop and gearing details.

Speaking of diesels and not to get too far off topic, this is one of my favorite commercials.... :)
