Has anyone recently been to Puerto Rico and can give me some suggestions on section of the island they liked best and hotels? Possible family things to do?

Any information is greatly appreciated.

Any information is greatly appreciated. I thought I saw 314Joey post something about flying from Florida to Puerto Rico RT $200.00. I think he has been. I definitely want to go there, but haven't done any research. So I look forward to hearing what others have to say. When are you going?

My sister wants to get married there...so she needs some recon done. I may go, but it's a long shot in December. Spending more than a few hours with my sisters results in a hangover the next day. I'm not sure how helpful I would be wedding planning drunk ;)

We do business there, but I have yet to go there. Sending people there in the next couple weeks or so. The last time we had people there it was hurricane season. That's when the phone started ringing.

Need a volunteer? I'm qualified to taste all types of alcohol and can persuade almost anyone to take their clothes off!

Unfortunately that would be counterproductive and would definitely cause at a minimum, a safety investigation for failure to wear the appropriate PPE at a jobsite :D

I use to go there quite a bit. Stayed in a condo right on the beach in Isla Verde. Good casino's, night clubs and the food was great. Old San Juan had some clubs, we were drunk most of the time. If you're a guy, you have to be very careful talking or picking up on their women. The locals do not like that and usually causes a problem. :D

We've haven't been in 2-3 three years, but before that we went every year for 6-7 years in January and we loved it, we always stayed at the El San Juan Hotel, it's in town, most of the hotels are kids friendly, I'm a picking person and we wouldn't have stayed at the El San Juan if it wasn't nice, nothing is cheap in Puerto Rico though, but the weather and the beaches are the best.

We took a cruise out of PR last year to do a southern Caribbean.....beautiful cruise, that's for sure. I did not really get a lot of time to see the city or the surrounding areas, just what we saw from the airport to the ship. to me, I saw a lot of nicer places on the cruise, St. Thomas and St Maarten come to mind. Also, things might have changed, but the tickets to get there cost more than the cruise, and there were no direct flights from LAX to PR. Everything was a connection. We went through Dulles on the way down, and Chicago on the way back...ugh....here's a thought...have you ever considered getting married on a cruise ship? they do have at sea weddings with a chapel onboard, or you could go ashore and do something at whichever port you choose....since I have done like 30+ cruises, I have seen quite a few of these, and they look like a LOT of fun. PM me, and I can do some research for you if you like....odds are the cruise idea would be more cost effective than the flights to PR.....let me know if I can be of any help...<B>

HINT:..............if you're going to PR and flying in from the West coast, I'm guessing there's going to be a layover in Southern Florida somewhere, make it Ft. Myers and we'll pick you up at the airport, it's twenty minutes from the house and you and Terri and try some of those wines out, kind of a pre-Puerto Rico party.

I think anything from Cali will have a layover, but for us, it's $200 bucks and a 1.5 flight and I'm sipping a drink at the pool by noon.

Dominican Republic is one place Jan and I would still like to visit.....well basically any tropical location, preferably an island. Pretty much anywhere in the Carribean would work. Swam with and fed the stingrays off Grand Cayman, smoked a fatty in Jamaica.:p dove for sea slugs and lobster in Fiji. Have wandered many beaches and valleys in Hawaii.
Always a place with warm climates. South Pacific is on the list again as well.
.
We have traveled europe a bit too, but that's a different kind of vacation. Those are less about laying around sipping umbrella cocktails and more about history lessons. Although, getting bat shit-face drunk at(actually in) the IceBar in Sweden was off the hook.:screwy::p
.
Being that you are intending to go there for family, you could always leave when festivities are done and book a few extra days in the Bahamas. El Guapo has never been there either:D
