Ferruccio Lamborghini began Lamborghini Automobili in 1963 in the hopes of building the best V12 engines on the market. He succeeded, creating automobiles that are recognized and praised around the world. In 1968, Ferruccio decided to buy a Riva Aquarama Speedboat; however, this was to be a Riva unlike any other.
Ferruccio and Carlo Riva teamed up to create a very special boat. They tagged the vessel with the Lamborghini name and replaced its two V8 engines with optimized 450 hp 4.0-Liter V12 engines built for the water from Lamborghini’s factory. The engines were the same as the one found in a Lamborghini 350GT, and together produced a top speed of up to 55 mph.

Roughly the same time that boat was built, Robert McCulloch(who founded Lake Havasu City) had a similar Riva built with twin Ferraris. Probably because he saw this one:wink2:
It was dry slung in a water garage at site 6 launch ramp, which at the time McCulloch owned every square inch of what was then a peninsula, now the island. I saw the boat twice. Once around 1970 during the World Outboard Championships which McCulloch was the sole sponsor, and again when it was the first boat to pass thru the channel on opening day in 1971. Always wonder what happened to that boat.

And do you know why he and Enzo Ferrari didn't get along?

Lambo went to Ferrari to deal with transmissions, not sure if Lambo wanted to sell or buy, Enzo said basically eat shit and Lambo said eat shit back I'm gonna build a car to compete with yours. Unfortunately Lambo BK'd more often than cars sold back then.

I thought the riff between Lambo and Enzo was about clutches not transmissions. Lambo wanted to sell clutches to Enzo because the Ferraris had shit clutches and Lambo had proven strong ass tractor clutch design.

Anybody know the name of the AMERICAN motorsports national and world champion that is married to a grand daughter of one of the founding bros of Maserati?

A hint. He was a center figure in one of the most famous "team" maneuvers in American motorsports history, and made the recent Nascar team incident look down right pale in comparison.
Another hint, Sharp Shooter should know this.

The picture wasn't a hint but I sure do remember that episode, infamous indeed. I lived and breathed motocross back in the late 70s and 80s.

Nothing I the picture would lead you ton know La Porte was involved, that why I asked. You either knew it or you didn't. The most the picture could do is jerk the memory of somebody that already knew.
I rode a Suzuki at the time, and that did not go over well with me at all.

I rode yamaha at the time (still do) and was a huge Hannah fan and LaPorte to a lesser extent, hated Glover. I was conflicted, lol. Happy Yamaha won the title, pissed Glover won, and pissed Hannah and LaPorte got screwed.

Hannah got his revenge. When his contract came up he told them he wanted the license plate YAMAHA. They told him that was already taken by the president of Yamaha USA. He just smiled and said "I KNOW"

The motocross guys today need to erect a statue to Hannah. He was the king of aftermarket/accessory sponsorship money. When he told Bell helmets he wanted 10,000 to wear their hlemets they told him to screw himself. he showed up at the Super Bowl at the LA Coliseum wearing a Electro. When they asked him why the change over the PA while on the podium, he said "I rather stick my head in a toilet than a Bell helmet" They were on the phone the next day but it was too late.
