You sure it was a record and not just the fastest recorded run? There is a difference. I heard there were no records set this weekend.
Regardless, its still blazing in a flat!!!!

I hope I'm wrong, but I think he would have had to back up that run to within 1% for it to be a record. Maybe someone here knows the protocol.

That's the way NHRA does it, I would assume boat drags are the same.

They were talking about him having to back it up yesterday when he ran it... Did he run again in the afternoon? or just the one run? I had to leave, and TAF and TFH were looking for their second run.. I'm not real sure how all this works, but that's what I gathered from the announcer on the loudspeaker...

That's the way I understood it. That's why I asked if it was in fact a record or the fastest single run. Are they planning to run Monday, or are they done for this event?

Pretty sure it's done. So it'll have to be Firebird :D

175 is insane in a flat. Its really a shame the weather didn't cooperate today. It was phenomenal yesterday and the boats were running fast. Damn wind anyway.

I guess we won't see the BFF's back anytime soon with speeds like this in the TAF class. Hearing Panic Mouse run today sure sounded great and brought back the memories of when they were the highlight of the show!

Normally it has I to be backed up but they gave it to him!!! He has a great lead in points!

No doubt because he is Tony GODDAMN Scarlata. Kind of like giving Mr. LAM Nascar a 13th position in the chase.

It was backed up! His 1st run in qualifying was a 5.20 and his 2nd pass was the 5.16. Bausher had the record at 5.21. The mph record is still owned by Johnny Heidemann @ 165.

I thought he backed up on Saturday too. But wouldnt both passes given him the speed too? I thought he went like 170 in his first pass.

those are the previous numbers as far as I know. The back up of a qualifying time makes a little more sense than "just letting him have it?

So what did everybody do yesterday? We left early yesterday morning, but the breeze had turned and was coming out of the south east, so I knew at least, things would be delayed.

What I meant was, all the peeps with motorhome spots, did the let everyone hang out for the day and have fun, or once the races were cancelled, did they start runnning everyone off?

Pretty sure it was called around noon. The crackers ran a little then they put the drivers on jet skis and let them run. The wind was pretty bad around 1pm. I think we pulled out around 2pm or so.

Thats cool. Wife and I were talking about getting a motorhome spot next year. Always going to have a chance of not getting everything in with a venue like that. I dont think we could have asked for better weather for Friday and Saturday!

No, he was gonna back it up today. I confirmed with Tony that he got the record with 5.16 but after reading Marc's comment about mph I may have entered that number incorrectly. It is very hard to hear the announcer sometimes.

The record was officially set at 5.16. The 5.20 from the first pass backed up the 5.16 in the afternoon. The 175mph pass we feel, was erroneous. Our data showed around 165mph. Maybe it happened, but we don't think so. Either way, it was hauling ass!!

Congratulations. Did you guys do anything different to the boat or engine, or was it just ideal conditions and great driving? That's blazing speed for sure.

We have had gremlins haunting us all year and we found what they were. We still have a couple issues but the engine was making big power and the water was fast.

Probably due to some surface coating that floats out the channel.

A couple other TAF's sounded like they were nosing over at the end of the run. Your's didn't, sounded like it was pulling hard all the way. Nice run
