Neither one of those will fit in my back pocket so I know I can't help you, we have a Canon and love it, but it's just a $200 powershot hand held, but it works great for what we use it for in the boat.

I have had both Canon & Nikon small cameras and I thought my Canon was better. I know 2ff uses the canon powershot and his pictures come out really vivid and clear. Like it. But we are in the market for a larger camera for taking nice pics of boats and Taylor and her dance competitions. The small ones don't cut it.

In all honestly, out of the box, I believe the higher end Canon's produce better color. I can get the same results, but I have to tweak the raw files a little. I'm locked in to Nikon because the lenses cost way more than the camera itself :D

Personally I shoot Canon, that being said I think you should go with Nikon. #1 reason is you can borrow Vic's lenses. lets say you guys are shooting the same event, someone can use the long lens and someone could use the fish eye If someone forgets something there might be a chance your equipment would integrate. There is a chance your battery packs might interchange (do the homework), this could come in real handy if someone forgets to charge there shit LOL. You see where I am going with this, it will give you some options as a team to make it happen.

I use a sony NEX-5N. it is from the mirrorless class of cameras so it s really thin and lightweight. Takes great shots but compact enough to carry in a baggy shorts pocket.

1st pic is a shot of joey getting away!! 200mm zoom all the way out.

I'll use my camera and be the photographer. All I ask for is a mere 5k per month salary and an American Express card for travel.
This way you won't have to worry about that lense expense.
BTW, I'm not a good photographer, but I could learn. :airplane:

We shopped for months and months and months....to the point of Best Buy and other camera stores knowing us when we walked in lol ...we ended up getting the Canon T4i, which we love, and takes sone pretty good photos (I think). A camera guru told us its like Chevy and Ford, just each person's preference. I think the magic is in the lens that's why they cost so damn much! Good luck with whichever you choose! 😁

Canon makes a 28-300 zoom. Pretty much will do 90% of everything. Nikon does not have an equivalent lens. So if you're only going to buy one camera a versatile lens is a must.

Ok so with that being said then maybe I'm going with canon because I'm not going to invest in a ton of different lens. I'd rather have the 28-300 (one lens). And I like Chevy better.

You might not like the weight, or the price. I'm sending my 28-300 back in for service, 350.00 plus the cost of parts for repair.

I have 6 lenses so far. I'm afraid to total them all up, I'll probably make myself sick. And eventually I want one of those 600/4.5's. A single 28-300 like yours knocks out 3 of mine. Bucks ahead and no lens switching. Money well spent.

I also have a 16-35 L and have used the 400mm 2.8 L. The 400 is such a great lens, just can't justify the cost for what I do.

I almost bought a 7d while in Detroit, they had if at Costco so I figured I'd pick it up when I got home. When I returned to Ca. Costco didn't have it. I'm now looking for a used 5ds mkIII.

The 28-300 is the perfect lens for a person of your size, not so much for Wendi. The 400 2.8 was manageable for free hand but I would have hated to drop it.

We just have the one that comes with it 18-55 (???) and rent various larger zoom lenses. Nick is still trying to figure out what he wants. We initially bought a 55-250 or something like that and he didn't like it. That 28-300 lens sounds like a good one.

this was done at about 3/4 zoom from foul line fence area.

Yes. Only problem is the 70 won't get you get close enough on a lot of shots. I am using my 70-200 and 80-400 less and less. I use my 14-24 and 28 a lot. I also have a 135DC that's pretty cool and I've been using my 400/2.8 a lot lately too.

yes but I was understanding the camera to come with an 18-55 already. the difference in quality and less missed shot is worth making lens changes for. at least those are my results when paying to own/try all these lenses.

and then to totally jump whiteworks' train... ME TOO, lol. ... and i'm unemployed with clear calendar, HA!
