Has anyone done the iOS 7 update for the iPhone yet? It's supposed to have some really cool new features. They released it at 10 a.m. this morning and I'm currently downloading it.

I got this message from out IT dept. yesterday.

iOS 7 may be one of the most hotly anticipated mobile operating system releases of all time, but it is not approved for use with our applications at this time. Currently, Cisco systems is warning its customers of a number of bugs that affect wireless connectivity. We recommend that you do not update any Apple device to IOS7 until this issue is resolved.

Thanks for the information. Great first post!

Okay, I downloaded it. It took about 2 hours for everything. So far it seems pretty cool especially iTunes Radio.

Anyone know how much memory will be used with the upgrade? I have less than a gig of available storage on my phone.

Just checked my phone and it says it's up to date with the 6.1.3 version. I'm assuming update notice is being sent out in waves or something.

Grads, I downloaded it. It seems to pull battery down faster, how do you turn off apps running? The old way doesn't work now.

Idk, blame Grads for taking us down a rabbit hole.

Having apps open does not drain the battery and slow the device. Very few apps stay open, even if they appear when you double-click your home button. This just shows the most recently used apps, though music apps like Pandora do continue to run while minimized (if you can still hear the music, it’s running). The biggest drains to your battery life actually come from often you set your phone to fetch mail, how often you use applications (like every time you check Facebook) and how often your apps are set to push notifications to you.

It does seem to be sucking up the battery compared to the previous iOS. No other changes to the phone. That kinda sucks, it wasn't great before.

I might just leave mine at iOS6 for now? I'm gonna upgrade to the 5s pretty soon anyways, you think I should just leave it alone?

It doesn't seem to do much more than the previous version. I noticed a call/text blocker that seems to be new. Just a little shiner. But I'm watching my battery. I'll let you know for sure in awhile.

I noticed a big difference in more battery consumption right away! All apps are running after you update, I shut them off earlier from what Grads posted so we'll see if that helps.

Confirmed. Definitely sucks down the battery much, much faster. I was at like 8% when I left work around 530-6, its never that low. Maybe 25%. No bueno.

Yea Joker, it sucks your batt down big time. I turned off all the apps, and it still uses more than the previous version.

I think it can be undone using iTunes. I'll probably wait till my 5S comes in. Then I'll drive over both of them :D

Haven't done the upgrade yet but I've got a battery pack case thingy for my 4g and you get a full charge out of it. I love it.

My wife reads a lot of books using Overdrive to access the Library Systems both here in Havasu and WA. Well Overdrive has a problem with IOS 7. The work around if anyone uses Overdrive is too uninstall Overdrive on your mobile device and then reinstall it. I did it through iTunes. The issue affects all the Apple Mobile devices.
Here are the instructions for any overdrive users: http://overdriveblogs.com/library/2013/09/19/overdrive-media-console-ios-7-crash-resolutions/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+OverdrivesDigitalLibraryBlog+ (OverDrive's+Digital+Library+Blog)

A couple of times when I pull phone out of pocket a grey screen with some features such as flashlight and timer are on it. How do I access it at will? So far it's been by accident and I don't see it in any of my apps. :headscratch:

Had the 5s since Saturday, i don't see much difference in battery life compared to my 4.
I used my phone more than usual today as I was mostly out of the office today and I'm still at 30% tonight!
I think batt life might actually be a little better, but the jury is still out.

Stats since last charge: standby time: 13 hours 37 minutes. Use time: 5 hours, 20 minutes

Make sure if you have more than one phone on the same plan you go to Settings and re-set/check the send and receive section. Mine were all sharing texts till I figured that out as were a few friends w all of theirs. Didn't matter to me but could definitly put someone in some type of a bind LOL
