Question. I have a labbed 32 Merc prop with a pretty good cracked ear. First time this has ever happened to me. I know the ear can be weld repair, I'm kind of in the metal repair business. My question is, is it worth fixing only to have another ear crack? Has anyone ever had this done before with success? I have 2 brand new stock 32's, but need to get them labbed. Should I scrap the cracked 32?

the way I look at..get it repaired and use it as a EMERGENCY spare..something to get you home..have you tried a 34 yet? wondering how your boat would like it...

I agree with this. Sometimes losing a blade at speed can do more damage than just breaking a prop. I lost a blade at 110 mph. :yikes:

Since I did the MEFI4 and intake, my 800 is now technically a 825. Problem is the water hasn't cooperated so I haven't been able to WOT the sucker. But I kinda doubt it could take such a big step. Maybe a cut down 34?

we have the same issue with water or the lack of it..we're waiting till a Havi trip (middle of the week) to go try props and open it up to see what it will run...

I’ve had two 26 pitch bravo’s crack, both on different boats with 525’s. Seemed to be just fine after the repair but I think with the power you’re running I’d just buy a new one.

I seriously thought the boat was going to come apart. It started violently shaking the wheel and boat but at least it when straight until we were able to stop. This was a twin engine boat. BTW the prop is now for sale in the parts section if you'd like to see it....or buy it. ;)

I have had them fixed. That being said I wouldn't run it on my boat. High speeds combined with big power and high x dimensions will take a toll on the prop and the last thing you want is to loose a blade.
Have you ever calculated your slip? It is my understanding that high slip numbers combined with a higher x dimension cause water to essentially boil at the base of the blades and this is what can lead to cracks and broken blades.

You also have to remember these props are cast and then finished. Some are cnc finished and some are done by hand. Whenever you have a cast part there is an increased potential for contaminants or air bubbles that can lead to cracks down the road.

I'm right around 12-14% depending. The more I think about it the less I want to get it fixed. Going in a scrap bin more than likely.

I would just run reg out of the box props..... save the labbed for speed runs,,

The boats doesn't like box props at all. Handles weird past 75-80.

Vic, you need to try this 34 I have....100 to 110 it runs well...I don't like how it planes for me...but i need to compare what it's does against a stock 32 and 36..this one has been labbed...

I start testing with stock props. Find the closest one then have it tweaked to achieve exactly what I want. "Lab finish means nothing". The lab prop for one boat may be all wrong for the next boat.

I might take you up on that. But let me see if I can hit the limiter with a 32 first. I can roll over with 5 people and full tanks but it isn't pretty lol

Ballsy setup with 1186HP... I bought the full SCX and had Dustin install my motor and drive... It looks bad ass... The new lower has been redefined again and is supposed to have less drag than the previous 3 versions...
