The female fox makes this sound when calling for a mate. It is heard quite frequently in Havasu and Parker near the water. If you listen closely usually this sound is heard as darkness approaches. The sounds get louder and more shrill later into the evening.

I have heard them in the channel, mini sandbar, copper and sometimes even in Steamboat. Just the sound of the female fox will make the hair on the back of your neck and everything else stand up. This is what the fox says.
