5 days until the "World's Greatest Water Ski Race" - July 20, 2013!!!
Approximately 70 water ski teams will ski the 62 mile-long race from the Queen Mary to A...valon and back. There are 19 different classes in which to participate; from novice to expert. There are two different starting categories: Boats 21 feet long or smaller, and boats between 21 feet and 43 feet. The smaller boats start 7 minutes before the large boats. The fastest teams can finish the round trip in less than 1 hour, but most will be done in less than 2 hours. Water skiers from around the globe come to participate, such as from Australia, England, Belgium and New Zealand. These are all amateur athletes competing for just the honor to win or the accomplishment to finish. GOOD LUCK to all of the teams!13173
